About Peugeot 205:

The Peugeot 205 was for many years one of the best hatchbacks you could buy. Although contested by VW Golf fans, the 205 GTi versions set the standard in hot hatch dynamics. The 205 is still a winner on road and track.

Introduced in 1983 as a 5 door hatchback, 3 door versions arrived in 1984.

Initially, chain driven overhead camshaft engines were fitted, with the engine mounted over the transmission. The 1.6 GTi arrived in 1984, with a fuel injected belt driven overhead cam engine.

1986 saw the CTi and 1.9 GTi arrive. In 1987 the TU belt driven overhead cam engines were fitted to all models except the GTi and diesels. Diesel and Turbodiesel models are also available.

All models have independent front suspension and rear semi-independent trailing arm suspension with torsion bars.
